About AA&VV

African Avian and Veterinary Volunteers was founded out of a deep passion for animal welfare and a recognition of the immense need for volunteer support at indigenous animal sanctuaries.  

 

Our journey began when our founder noticed a significant shortage of volunteers while working at a local sanctuary.

 

The overwhelming workload, from cleaning cages to performing advanced veterinary procedures, highlighted the urgent need for both skilled and unskilled assistance.

 

Realizing that this issue was not isolated, we explored other organizations within the city and across the country, discovering a widespread challenge in meeting the demands of animal care.   

 

This revelation inspired us to create a platform where animal lovers, particularly those pursuing careers in veterinary science or related fields, could contribute their skills and enthusiasm.

 

Our Mission

 

We aim to bridge the gap by inviting volunteers from around the world to South Africa, offering them a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience with indigenous wildlife. Our program is designed to provide aspiring veterinary professionals with exposure to a diverse range of animals and medical situations that they might not encounter in their home countries.
