Program

The program includes:

Comprehensive Animal Care Experience: Work hands-on with diverse species—ranging from domestic rescues to wildlife at a conservation level.
Exclusive Behind-the-Scenes Access: Participate in unique activities like behind-the-scenes zoo tours, animal enrichment at SPCA, and working with wildlife rehabilitators.
Visit Iconic Animal Sanctuaries: Spend time at places like the Cheetah Farm, Elephant Sanctuary, Lion Whisperer, and Rhino & Lion Park.
Professional Guidance: Learn directly from experienced professionals, veterinarians, and animal care specialists.
Exciting Wildlife Adventures: Enjoy game drives and hikes in world-renowned reserves like Pilanesberg and take part in efforts like snare trap clearing.
Cultural Immersion: Connect with fellow volunteers, experience local traditions like a South African braai, and explore the heart of Johannesburg.
Fully Inclusive Program: Accommodation, meals, transport, and activities are all included, so you can focus on making the most of this experience.

Friends of Free Wildlife

From Monday to Thursday you will be based at The FFW Country Base, working on a rescue and release program with indigenous birds, animals and reptiles, that have been injured.

Equestrian Exposure

On one of the weekends, we will spend time assisting with horse and donkey sanctuaries - the work will vary depending on the needs of the organizations.

Bush Outing

One weekend will be spent at Sun City and in the Pilansberg Game Reserve. Where there is an opportunity to work with Friends of the Pilansberg, you will be asked to help

Weekend Outing

One of the weekends will be spent in Hartebeespoort Dam. You will visit many of our partners, get to help where you can and then for some excitement we will add in a few adventure items to the agenda

Urban Fur Babies

There are a lot of urban animals that need assistance, where we can you will get involved with sterilisastions, adoptions and even fund raising for the organisations

What's next

Add on to your stay in South Africa by choosing a two week Marine volunteer program or a two week program in a big five sanctuary close to the renowned Kruger Park, a third option is visit a Dolphin Research Centre in Mozambique to swim with the Dolphins
